Office hours are Monday thru Friday 10:00am to 5:30pm. Access to your storage unit is from 6:00am – 10:00pm daily.

We have a one month minimum then after that you can rent month to month. If you sign a one-year lease, you can get the 13th month for free.

No, we prorate your first month’s rent. Your rent will be calculated on the day you sign the lease.

Yes, $30.00 deposit is needed when you sign the lease for Cedar Rapids or Hiawatha. There is a $50.00 deposit in Iowa City. Your deposit is refunded in full, if the storage unit is left in good condition.

Yes, if you rent for one year, we’ll give you the 13th month for free!

We do not provide a lock in Cedar Rapids or Hiawatha, but we offer a high security disc lock for purchase from our main office.

In Iowa City we provide you with a lock and 3 keys.

No, we do not send any invoices or monthly statements.

Rent is due the first day of the month. There is a 10-day grace period.

We accept cash, check, money order, or credit card. We have flexible payment options. You can:

  • Pay online
  • Mail payment to:
    288 Blairs Ferry Rd,
    Cedar Rapids, IA 52402
  • Drop payment off in the drop box the Blairs Ferry office or in Iowa City
  • Stop in during our office hours to pay with cash, check, or credit card. We accept Visa, Master Card, and Discover.
  • A valid driver’s license or picture ID
  • Payment

Yes, you must notify us 10 days before moving out.

The following items are not allowed:

  • food,
  • animals,
  • anything flammable,
  • explosives,
  • anything illegal.

You can not live in the unit.

Use a high-quality disc lock to secure your storage unit. Store your items in protective bins. Place something like a bottle cap, under the legs of furniture to prevent absorption of any condensation. Place more frequently used items close to the door. Place valuable items toward the back of your storage unit. Create an aisle down the middle of your unit if you need to access your items often. Stack lighter items on top of heavier items. Label your boxes/totes. Wrap all fragile items separately. Pack these items tightly into reinforced boxes. Mark items as fragile as needed. Cover mattresses and furniture with sheets or a plastic covering. Do not store any hazardous materials such as gasoline, flammable materials, explosives, etc. Do not store perishables.

You can access your storage unit from 6:00am – 10:00pm daily.

The items you store are not covered by our insurance. Blue Lagoon Storage is not responsible for any loss or damage to your property. We suggest you check coverage on your homeowner’s or renter’s policy. Blue Lagoon offers insurance through a third party, which can be added at any time. See office for details.

The tenant is responsible for the contents of their unit. Please see above question regarding insuring the contents of the unit.

Rent is due on, or before, the 1st of each month. Blue Lagoon does offer a ten day grace period. If the rent is not paid by the 10th, on the 11th day, late fees will be added to your account and you will be denied access to your unit. You will need to pay your rent in full to have access to your unit.

We suggest the use of wood strips (or pallets) on the floor to prevent any moisture. If you are using a combination of plastic containers and cardboard, place the cardboard boxes on top of the plastic containers.
