Storage Tips

We Want to Make the Experience Easier for You

Fill Space with Small Items

Fill storage totes with small items and use newspaper or towels to fill any empty space. This better protects contents and helps prevent cave ins when stacked.

Break Down Larger Items

Whenever possible, break down any items that cause wasted space. Items such as tables and desks can often be broken down so that the table top can be stored on end.

Use Totes, Not Boxes if Possible

We don't recommend using boxes as they will wick moisture. Use storage totes if possible. If you do use boxes, put a barrier between them and cement.

Find the Extra Space

Find extra space in items such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, and dryers. Remember that when packed properly these spaces can be used to store and protect small items.

Take Extra Care When Packing

Take a little extra time when packing items to save yourself a lot of aggravation later. Pack heavy items in small totes. Label each tote so you can find what you need, when you need it.

Protect Fragile Items

Use furniture drawers to protect fragile items, and simply transfer clothing from the drawers into bags or totes since they need much less protection.

Plan Your Storage Layout

Before moving things in, spend a few minutes thinking about the arrangement of your items within the unit.

Prepare Metal Objects

Wipe metal items like bikes, lawn mowers, and tools with a rag containing machine oil to reduce the possibility of rust.

A Few Things to Consider

• Leave aisles when possible so you can get in and around your stuff.
• Leave space at the back of the unit to access the hardest to reach items.
• Put frequently needed items near the front.

The owner, Tracie, is unbelievably nice - even sent us a Happy Thanksgiving email! She's always answered me quickly and the garages are super clean.
